Step-by-Step Adoption Process:
Thank you for your interest in adopting an animal from CAA! We'd love to help you find your purr-fect match!
CAA is an open-adoption facility, meaning we rely on conversation-based adoptions instead of applications.
Adopters must be at least 18 years of age to review and sign our contract.
Adoption fees are owed prior to leaving the shelter with your newly adopted pet.
All newly adopted pets must leave in a carrier or on a leash!
1.) View Adoptable Animals
You can come to our shelter and meet our 200+ animals at our facility during our operating hours.
We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm.
ADOPTION FEES:
Dogs over 25lbs/6 months: $100
Dogs under 25lbs/6 months: $200
Cats over 6 months: $25
Cats/Kittens under 6 months: $50
2.) Meet and interact with the Animals You Are Interested In
If an animal is in a foster home, you can inquire about them by completing an adoption survey. Your survey will be forwarded to the foster parent within 3 business days of submission. The foster parent should review the survey to determine the best fit for the animal’s needs and then set up a time and location to meet.
If an animal is available for adoption at the shelter, a Client Care staff member will take them out for you to meet and interact. You can spend as much time as you'd like hanging out with the animal in our lobby or taking it for a walk in our dog park!
3.) Make it official!
Once you have chosen the animal you want to adopt, our Client Care staff will go over their known medical and behavioral history. After, you will review and sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Please plan to spend roughly 30 minutes completing the adoption process from the time you have chosen the animal you are adopting!
The majority of animals at our shelter are adoption-ready and will go home with you upon completion of the paperwork! If an animal is not adoption-ready, our Client Care staff will go over the details regarding pick-up.
Adopting a pet is a big commitment! CAA offers “Pawditions” that serve as a two-week trial period to make sure your newly adopted pet is the perfect fit for you. Within those two weeks, you are able to bring the pet back to CAA, without a required intake appointment, and continue your search for a companion animal. We recommend Pawditions for anyone with pets or children at home.
