Foster-to-Rehome

Are you struggling with pet ownership? CAA offers a foster-to-rehome program option to eligible pets and owners.

Our foster-to-rehome program is application-based. Behavioral and medical exclusions may apply. This application is open for household pets belonging to residents of East Baton Rouge Parish ONLY or pets that have been previously adopted from Companion Animal Alliance.

This program is NOT for:

Animals with severe health or behavioral issues.

Owners facing evictions or time-sensitive living arrangements.

Members of the public who have found an animal.

To utilize this program, you must:

Be willing to house your pet(s) in your own home while CAA assists you in promoting your pet for adoption.

Comply with all guidelines set forth in our foster program.

Currently reside in East Baton Rouge Parish or have previously adopted the pet from CAA.

This program is beneficial to pets and owners because :

It allows owners to receive promotional assistance needed in order to get their pets adopted.

Provides a structured rehoming/adoption process.

Owners are able to screen applications in order to find the most suitable home for their pets’ needs.

It keeps pets out of the shelter environment where they may otherwise experience fear, anxiety, and stress without a guaranteed positive outcome.

This program allows current owners to continue caring for their pets in their homes with the ultimate goal of finding a better-suited home for their pets’ needs. This program can be utilized by those who are looking for assistance with rehoming their pets. This is a foster-based program that requires current owners to continue housing their pets while CAA assists them in promoting their pets for adoption. If accepted into this program, CAA will provide available resources, along with all medical care while the animal is in the program.
